Civil Engineering and Disaster Management Research Unit (CEDMRU) has identified the specific research areas related to the strengths of development for country and community in advanced infrastructure development, geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering, transportation engineering and water engineering.
The CEDMRG research group contains the young researchers who have the high capabilities and potentials in various areas related to civil engineering research. The researchers are extremely enthusiastic in conducting the basic and advanced researches and consulting activities in civil engineering and advanced technologies as well as projected based research for the private and public sectors and communities.

- Advanced Infrastructure Development
Application of new approaches and concepts in the development of infrastructure including integrated project management, infrastructure asset, infrastructure safety and maintenance throughout construction material testings.
- Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering
Design of safe structures, disaster mitigation and rehabilitation and sustainable geological exploitation for engineering projects based research.
- Transportation Engineering
Transport and logistics systems plannings , Traffic Engineering and Impacts, Public transportation planning regarding transit-oriented development and Maritime transport planning.
- Water Engineering and Management
Integrated water resources management and water related disaster management.
- Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (RS & GIS)
Remote sensing (RS), Geographic information system (GIS) , Global positioning system (GPS) , Digital mapping technology and photogrammetry.
